As part of the Econutri program, University of Thessaly is diving into soilless cultivation systems to conserve water and reduce fertiliser use.

From March to July 2024, at the Pilot Greenhouse Park of University of Thessaly a groundbreaking experiment will be set up, putting the cascade hydroponic system to the test.

By harnessing the drainage from a primary beef tomato crop, a secondary cherry tomato crop will be grown with minimal environmental impact.

Less water, fewer fertilisers, but just as much deliciousness!

The goal is to yield cherry tomatoes while promoting sustainability and resource efficiency.
