Biography – Dr Clive Rahn

Over 45 years of experience of working with soils and managing plant nutrients, particularly nitrogen to maximise food production with minimal impact on the environment. A track record of providing practical advice to farmers and academic research at national and international levels.  Have both science (Soil Science) and social science (MBA) backgrounds supporting more recent interests of how-to bring science into practice.

Specific interests included leading the development of national fertiliser recommendations (RB209) for field vegetable crops.  Co-ordination of an EU research project to “Develop a European Model to optimise nitrogen use in horticultural crop rotations, EU-Rotate_N. Member of the research team investigating “Knowledge policy and practice for sustainable nutrient management and water resource protection in UK and Chinese agro-ecoystems”,  Recent work in China,  New Zealand and for EU commission.  Member of External Advisory Board of ECONUTRI a new European Research Project. Recently published book chapter on strategy for more effective development and use of computer models in Agriculture. Membership of scientific committee and speaker at many international conferences

Over 150 publications ranging from farm leaflets, project reports. popular articles, policy documents and academic papers. A Chartered Scientist and Fellow of the British Society of Soil Science.
