The Agricultural University of Athens (AUA), in collaboration with the Hebei Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Science (HAAFS)s and the China Agricultural University (CAU), hosted a two-day international workshop focused on Decision Support Systems (DSS) for hydroponic cultivation and environmental impact assessment through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

The first day highlighted the pivotal role of DSS in hydroponic systems within the context of the ECONUTRI project. Attendees engaged in insightful discussions and toured the university’s experimental greenhouses and lab facilities.

The second day shifted focus to environmental and economic sustainability in agriculture. Experts from the Laboratory of Farm Structures presented practical applications of LCA in agrifood systems. Topics included greenhouse crop impact assessments, renewable energy in livestock farming, and several EU-funded projects on sustainability, digital innovation, and carbon farming.

This workshop fostered dialogue, knowledge sharing, and future collaboration between European and Chinese institutions in the framework of the EU-China international cooperation.
