The Laboratory of Agricultural Structures and Environmental Control at the University of Thessaly welcomed students from the 1st EPAL Velestino to the Pilot Greenhouse Park in Velestino.

During their visit, the students explored cutting-edge hydroponic systems and innovative technologies used for the precise management of greenhouse environments. Guided by expert researchers, they gained hands-on experience and insight into sustainable agricultural practices, enhancing their understanding of technology’s role in sustainable production.

The visit also included presentations on three EU-funded projects: REGACE, ECONUTRI, and E-SPFdigit. Highlights included:

  • The ECONUTRI project’s multilayer cultivation system for reducing environmental impacts.
  • The REGACE project’s photovoltaic panel system for co-producing energy and food.
  • The autonomous robot developed under E-SPFdigit, capable of navigating greenhouses and conducting real-time environmental and crop measurements.

The Laboratory remains dedicated to advancing innovative agricultural technologies and sharing knowledge with the scientific community and society at large.
