
The Econutri project held its third-year General Assembly from 28 – 31 October 2024 in Skierniewice, Poland. The National Institute of Horticultural Research (InHort) (InHort-P18), hosted an outstanding meeting attended by 60 in-person participants and a few joining online. This four-day meeting featured:
– On-site visits to InHort’s demonstration sites, laboratories, and experimental fields.
– Progress updates on all Work Packages (WPs), focusing on technology development, nutrient recycling, emission reduction, and sustainability assessments.
– Discussions on future actions, deliverables, and milestones for the next project phase.

The first day of the meeting began with a warm welcome from InHort, highlighting its commitment to sustainable horticulture and agricultural research. Partners explored InHort’s Experimental Station in Dabrowice, gaining insights into innovative cultivation techniques, followed by a tour of state-of-the-art research centers specializing in crop breeding and food processing.
InHort experts presented their latest research on biochar applications and microbial consortia, followed by lab visits showcasing advancements in food safety and nutrient efficiency. The day concluded with a networking dinner at Dworek Hotel, sponsored by ECONUTRI Stakeholder MicroLife.
During the following days, partners showcased key advancements in their respective Work Packages. Discussions included significant progress in demonstration sites, with field trial results on nutrient recycling technologies. The event also highlighted advancements in nutrient management, emphasizing digital tools, optimized application techniques, and emission reduction strategies.
The China-EU collaboration was reinforced, focusing on joint research, data sharing, and technological innovations in sustainable agriculture. WP leaders outlined key deliverables, impact assessments, and next steps, ensuring the project’s continued progress and stakeholder engagement. Additionally, 4 stakeholders from Poland presented their organizations, shared real-world agricultural challenges and highlighted their interest in the processes and outcomes of the ECONUTRI project.
The General Assembly in Poland was more than just a progress review—it was a moment of connection and teamwork. Our hosts at InHort provided exceptional hospitality, making everyone feel truly welcome. The event strengthened our collaboration through engaging discussions during lunch breaks and exquisite dinners at the Dworek Hotel.
