15 October 2025 – AUA welcomes HAAFS and conducts field visit to “MAGIKOS KIPOS”, Viotia, Greece

On 15 October 2025, Dr. D. Savvas from AUA welcomed our visiting Chinese partners Wang Qi, Zhang Meishen, and Wang Liying from the Hebei Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences (HAAFS).

Dr. Savvas presented the NUTRISENSE technology, developed within the ECONUTRI project, highlighting its use of ion-selective electrodes in closed hydroponic systems.

Following the presentation, the delegation visited the high-tech greenhouse facilities of IGC MAGIKOS KIPOS in Kastro, Viotia. The greenhouse, operating an NFT system with Moving Gutter technology across a 2-ha production area, cultivates multiple lettuce varieties marketed under the name “MAGIKOS KIPOS.”

As an ECONUTRI stakeholder, IGC uses NUTRISENSE to adjust nutrient supply in the closed-loop NFT system.

These activities provided an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the practical implementation of ECONUTRI innovations and to strengthen scientificcollaboration between AUA and HAAFS in the field of sustainable greenhouse agriculture.
