A recent article by Glastuinbouw Waterproof highlights results from a WUR cucumber trial in Bleiswijk showing that higher sodium concentrations in recirculating systems did not reduce yield under most treatments. The findings suggest that drain water may be safely reused for longer, helping reduce water and fertiliser losses. The study was carried out within the Horizon Europe ECONUTRI project and supports its goals of improving nutrient efficiency and promoting more sustainable greenhouse production.
Our partner, Glastuinbouw Nederland (LGNL) plays an important role in this research, contributing to the project’s mission of improving nutrient use efficiency in European agriculture.
