
On 10 May 2025, the EcoNutri project held a highly successful stakeholder meeting in Kunming, located in the Yunnan Province of Southwest China. The event was coorganised by Professor Qing Chen and Professor Mu in collaboration with the National Horticultural Institute of Poland (InHort), bringing together over 70 participants, including industry representatives, researchers, and stakeholders from both China and Poland.The meeting provided an open platform for exchanging knowledge and best practices in the field of sustainable fertilization and biofertilizer innovation. Presentations focused on:
- Recent advances in biofertilization and novel composts,
- Strategies to reduce nutrient loss and greenhouse gas emissions, and
- The development of microbiologically enriched biofertilizers and biostimulants with significant fertilizing, hormonal, and plant-protection properties.
A particular highlight was the demonstration of Chinese companies’ products and scientific data on their efficacy in crop performance and soil remediation, showcasing cutting-edge developments in agricultural biotechnology.

The venue, Kunming InterContinental Hotel, provided a fitting backdrop for meaningful dialogue and collaboration. Kunming, known as the “Spring City,” offered a welcoming environment for guests, combining scenic beauty, cultural richness, and strategic location. This stakeholder meeting marked a significant step forward in EU-China cooperation under the Horizon Europe framework. The insights shared and partnerships formed will strongly support the implementation and impact of the ECONUTRI project, especially in the areas of nutrient efficiency, environmental protection, and innovation in sustainable agriculture.
