On 10 May 2024, InHort presented ECONUTRI-related research at the scientific workshop “Preparaty mikrobiologiczne w rolnictwie i ochronie środowiska” (Microbiological Preparations in Agriculture and Environmental Protection”) in Puławy, Poland. The event was hosted by the Department of Agricultural Microbiology of IUNG-PIB (Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation – National Research Institute) (IUNG-PIB) and brought together researchers and practitioners working on microbiological preparations, soil health, environmental protection, agriculture, and horticulture.
During the workshop, Prof. Lidia Sas-Paszt delivered the presentation “Konsorcja mikrobiologiczne o działaniu biostymulującym i ograniczającym straty składników mineralnych do gleby, wód i powietrza opracowane w ramach projektów EcoNutri, Excalibur i ResBerry”, (“Microbial consortia with biostimulant effects that reduce mineral nutrient losses to soil, water and air, developed within the Econutri, Excalibur and ResBerry projects”).
The presentation highlighted innovative microbial consortia developed within Econutri, Excalibur and ResBerry to stimulate the growth and yield of horticultural plants while helping reduce mineral nutrient losses to soil, water and air. Prof. Sas-Paszt also presented results from the Econutri project, showing that these consortia can degrade organic matter, increase the availability of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium to plants, and produce organic compounds that chelate iron ions and other micronutrients.
The workshop provided an important opportunity to showcase how microbiological innovation can support more sustainable horticulture and environmentally friendly agricultural practices.
The programme of the Workshop is here.
