DSS Tool: The Tierra fertigation tool comprising VegSyst-DSS and PrHo
The ECONUTRI Project is pleased to announce the next event of its Online Hackathon Series, taking place on 10–11 February 2026, hosted in Spain by the University of Almería and the Cajamar Research Station, with the support of COEXPHAL.
This event will premiere and demonstrate a new web-based fertigation management program designed for greenhouse vegetable crops. The tool is a hybrid system that combines:
- VegSyst-DSS, providing the nutrient management component, and
- an advanced irrigation management module developed by Cajamar, together with new functionalities, including improved preparation of fertiliser solutions.
A key objective of this hackathon is to make VegSyst-DSS widely available to the local agricultural sector through Cajamar’s highly respected research and extension services, ensuring direct transfer of innovation to farmers, advisors, and greenhouse operators.
The event will combine:
- a live online workshop and demonstrations,
- hands-on testing of the fertigation tool, and
- real-time feedback and co-creation, allowing participants to suggest improvements and help refine the system.
The hackathon is open to farmers, advisors, researchers, students, and AgTech experts interested in digital tools for sustainable nutrient and water management.
