NIBIO marked 20 years of successful research collaboration with Chinese partners through a two-day workshop held in Moss, Norway. The event brought together researchers and institutional representatives to reflect on the achievements of this long-standing partnership and to discuss future opportunities for cooperation.
The workshop was also particularly relevant in the context of ECONUTRI, an EU–China collaborative project that promotes innovative and sustainable nutrient management solutions in agriculture. As a partner in ECONUTRI, NIBIO contributes to strengthening scientific exchange and joint innovation between Europe and China, supporting the project’s broader ambition to address pollution prevention, resource efficiency, and sustainable agricultural practices.
Over the past two decades, the NIBIO–China collaboration has addressed important global challenges related to food security, climate change, environmental protection, soil health, and sustainable agriculture. The workshop programme included thematic sessions on smart agriculture, food safety, One Health, circular economy approaches, and future research cooperation between Europe and China.
Overall, the event highlighted the value of long-term international collaboration and reaffirmed NIBIO’s commitment to advancing research partnerships that can contribute to more resilient and sustainable agricultural systems.
