Our partner Prof. Lidia Sas-Paszt from InHort showcased ECONUTRI at a meeting hosted by the Plant Nutrition Department of our partner China Agricultural University, under the direction of Professor Jianbo Shen, held in China on 26–27 June 2024.
During the meeting, Prof. Sas-Paszt presented the ECONUTRI project and highlighted its work on innovative biofertilizers designed to improve the quality of horticultural crops and enhance soil fertility.
A key focus of the presentation was the development within ECONUTRI of six microbial consortia aimed at supporting plant growth and yield, while also contributing to the composting of agricultural waste. These consortia include microorganisms from the genera Bacillus, Priestia, Klebsiella, Streptomyces, and Pseudomonas.
This work reflects ECONUTRI’s broader mission to promote more sustainable nutrient management in agriculture through innovative, environmentally friendly solutions. By improving soil fertility and supporting healthier horticultural production, such biofertilizers can play an important role in reducing dependence on conventional inputs and advancing circular approaches in agriculture.
