Our partner Prof. Lidia Sas-Paszt from InHort, presented ECONUTRI at the workshop “Enhancement of nature-based solutions for sustainable agriculture and ecosystem health,” held at the Rome Scientific Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Rome, Italy, in12 July 2024. The event brought together Italian and Polish researchers to exchange knowledge on sustainable agriculture, nature-based solutions, healthy agricultural production, and future research cooperation.

Prof. Lidia Sas-Paszt’s presentation, titled “The newest advances in biofertilization – improving soil fertility and quality of horticultural crops,” highlighted ECONUTRI results related to microbial fertilisers and composted products and their application in horticultural plant cultivation. The presentation showed how these approaches can support more sustainable nutrient management while contributing to healthier crops and improved soil performance.

A central message of the presentation was the value of consortia of beneficial microorganisms in horticultural production. Their use was discussed in relation to improving vegetative growth, increasing yield and crop quality, strengthening plant protection, reducing nutrient losses to the environment, and helping plants better cope with drought stress.
