In Bleiswijk, the Netherlands, WUR and LGNL organized a workshop meeting with cucumber growers, where M. Meijers presented recent progress from WUR’s work on cultivation with higher sodium levels under ECONUTRI Task 3.3. The workshop focused on smart nutrient management strategies to reduce the discharge of nutrient solution and help prevent emissions from soilless cultivation.
The meeting shared results from cucumber trials exploring higher acceptable sodium levels and different management strategies, with the aim of reducing nutrient losses while maintaining crop performance. This exchange with growers is an important step in turning research results into practical solutions for more sustainable greenhouse production.
