As part of the ECONUTRI project, our partner, Università degli Studi di Torino (UNITO), has officially launched the final field trial aimed at evaluating how gas emissions from arable soils can be mitigated by balancing nutrients in organic waste, offering a more sustainable alternative to mineral fertilizers.
The trial investigates the effectiveness of:

  • Enzyme-pretreated solid digestates, and
  • Struvite precipitated from liquid fractions.

These treatments are designed to improve nutrient use efficiency while supporting the goal of reducing both emissions and reliance on synthetic fertilizers.

This activity contributes directly to the EU’s Zero Pollution ambition and the broader goal of sustainable nutrient management in agriculture.
