On Tuesday, 10 December, COEXPHAL welcomed a group of 16 students and 3 professors from the University of Groningen (The Netherlands), who are participating in a course as part of their Master’s program in Ecology.

The visit was focused on Agroecology, with particular emphasis on the impact of the horticultural system on the landscape and biodiversity in Almería. A key topic discussed during the visit was soil management, especially the optimization of water and fertilizer use. As part of this, COEXPHAL shared insights into the objectives and results of the ECONUTRI project, highlighting sustainable solutions to improve agricultural practices.

The University of Groningen selected Almería as the location for this course due to the region’s major role in horticultural production across Europe, particularly during the winter season. This visit provided an excellent opportunity for knowledge exchange and to showcase Almería’s contributions to sustainable agriculture and biodiversity conservation.
