The main contributions of Wageningen University and Research are linked to WP2 and WP3.<\/p>\n
In Wp2 we contribute with the Farm Maps Tool for dose optimization of derived products and timing of the applications. This tool will be tested and applied for variable rate application in arable crops.<\/p>\n
IN WP3, WUR contributes to minimizing losses of N and P in soil grown greenhouse crops as well as soil less grown greenhouse crops.<\/p>\n
For soil grown crops a DSS for minimizing leaching is optimised, validated at three growers and applied and demonstrated at a larger number of growers. The DSS gives advice on the irrigation based on climate computer data. In addition, a DSS for manure application has been developed and is applied at organic farms.<\/p>\n
For soil less cultivation we focus on reducing discharge from soil grown crops. One of the main reasons for drain water discharge in soilless grown crops is accumulation of sodium (Na) in the drain water. Research over the past five years has shown that the crops can handle higher Na concentrations than previously assumed. Within Econutri we help growers to adapt this new knowledge by (i) monitoring the nutrient composition at a number of growers and advise them on the steps to take, (ii) demonstration and (iii) supporting advisors in bringing the message to the growers.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
